Dear Editor,
DECA’s mission statement is to prepare “…emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in
marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around
the globe. DECA prepares the next generation to be academically prepared,
community-oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.” Even if you are
not wanting to be in an occupation that involves business involvement in DECA will help
you develop the leadership and people skills that will you to be successful.
There is not cost for joining as we’ve been successful in fundraising and believe that
your effort in the club will should be reimbursed. Working together is something that we
do in DECA. Working towards a common goal is one of the main parts.
“In the past we’ve participated in the Nike Believe to Achieve conference at Nike world
headquarters and the Moda Center Sports Business Day. The Nike event has been
cancelled due to the pandemic restrictions we’re not sure about the Moda event. Last
year we participated in DECA Oregon’s SCDC (State Career Development Conference)
at the Red Lion hotel in Portland” stated Mr. Mato, the adviser of the club. Most of the
members last year were seniors so we need new people, if you join now you can help pave the way for what DECA will look like!
