This season the football players were required to wear masks like all other sports.  However, because they have mouth pieces it made things a bit more complicated.

“It’s really hard to play with them [masks] because it’s hard to run and breath with them on, as well as a mouthpiece,” sophomore Leithan Thompson said.

Also similar to all the other sports taking place in season one, football doesn’t have state this year.  Although, with a record of 1-3 it doesn’t look as though they would have made it in a normal year.  They got their victory on March 19 against Reynolds, 33-26. Their other games were against some of the best teams in the state: Sunset, Central Catholic and Clackamas.

Even through all the hardships this season has brought the football team, they were still able to stay positive and make great memories.

“It was worth it to come back this season even though there were restrictions.  It’s always worth it when you get to play the sport you love.  When I found out we were gonna get a season I was very excited and so was everyone else,” Thompson said.

Sadly the football season was cut one game short due to Covid protocols.  But the team was lucky enough to have the chance to honor their seniors on senior night on March 26.
