Even with the challenges provided by the coronavirus, the SHS Mock Trials team has been able to navigate the challenges of performing trials online. Although our team got a late start to the season, we were able to participate in the District competition with two teams. The two teams from Sandy were the Varsity Crimson Team and the JV Black Team. While unfortunately, neither of the teams was able to qualify for the State competition this year, we are confident that with hard work we will be able to qualify next year.
Currently, the Crimson Team is preparing for a national competition hosted by Mock On for May 22nd and 23rd. This will be the first time we are participating in this competition and we are excited to get to compete with teams across the nation.
The Mock Trials team is open to all and we are always looking for new people to join. Members will have the opportunity to participate in multiple trials throughout the year and put on performances for real-life attorneys and judges. In addition, members will have the opportunity to meet people across the state and even the nation through competitions. If interested in joining, contact Coach Chris Meyers for details.
