Music is an escape for a lot of people and students at SHS are often seen listening to their favorite artists throughout the day. Over the course of the next few months, a variety of artists are coming to the Portland area and no matter what type of music you listen to, there is a concert for you.

Concerts allow for people to enjoy and experience some of their favorite musical artists live and on a more personal level. However, over the course of the last year and a half there have not been many concerts for people to attend due to the Covid-19 regulations and safety concerns for not only the artist but the people attending.

Now as things seem to be getting better, concerts seem to be making a much anticipated comeback. Some of the artists that will be performing in the next couple of months in our area are Madison Beer; Beach Bunny; Bad Bunny; The Weeknd; Louis Tomlinson; Justin Bieber; Dua Lipa and Tyler, the Creator.

Madison Beer has gained much popularity over the last few years among teens and young adults. Songs like, “Home with You” and “Selfish” made the Billboards Charts and led her to have over 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify.  Beer is set to come to Portland on Nov. 20 at the Roseland Theater. Her ticket prices start at $70 and there are still several available.

On Dec. 3, Beach Bunny will be coming to perform at the Wonder Ballroom. Beach Bunny creates alternative/indie music and are greatly known for their song, “Prom Queen” a very popular song on TikTok. Other songs like, “Cloud 9” and “Sports” have brought them over 6 million monthly listeners. Beach Bunny is currently selling tickets at $82 on Ticketmaster.

Due to the uncertainties that the pandemic has brought upon us this past year and a half, most artists that had set tours for this year decided to push them back into next year or even completely cancel them until further notice. But there are still some who will be coming to Portland in 2022.

Bad Bunny, a Spanish and latin music sensation will kick off his North American tour, “El Último Tour del Mundo 2022” coming to Portland on Feb. 28 at the Moda Center.  Bad Bunny has had much success in his career, having 12 songs that have peaked No.1 on Billboard’s charts while also having over 46 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Bad Bunny has tickets available for his tour, sales starting at $165.

“Bad Bunny is one of my favorite artists and I know many students also really enjoy his music. I’m really excited to be able to see him live as this will be the first time he comes to Portland for a tour,” junior Cindy Moreno said.

Canadian based artist, The Weeknd, will be touring his much loved album “After Hours” around the world. The Weeknd’s music has skyrocketed significantly over the past couple of years. Songs like “Blinding Lights,” “Starboy” and “Save Your Tears (ft. Ariana Grande)” all have made him a favorite among students. The Weeknd was set to initially start off his tour in 2020 but due to the Covid-19 restrictions it had to be pushed back to this year. He then later announced that his North American leg of the tour would be happening at the start of 2022. Unfortunately, later the tour had to be cancelled but has been announced to begin summer of 2022.

Louis Tomlinson, formerly in the boy band One Direction, will be coming to Portland for two dates, March 4 and 7 at the Roseland Theater. Tomlinson had initially begun his world tour back in March of 2020 and was only two shows in before he had to pause all shows. Since then he has had to reschedule several times before having his up to date shows. Night one is nearly sold out while night two has tickets available for $109 through resale sites.

An informal questionnaire was conducted asking SHS students who they are excited to see in concert in the next couple of months. “I’m excited to see Louis Tomlinson in concert, because I know the concert environment is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to meet other fans and have the time of our lives,” senior Grace Bliesner said.

Justin Bieber will also be making a stop in Portland on March 11 at the Moda Center for his albums “Changes” and “Justice.” Whether you like Bieber or not, he is still very well-known among people because of his early career hit songs like, “Baby” and newer songs like “Love Yourself” and “Stay (ft. Kid Laroi).” Tickets for Justin Bieber start at around $90.

The Moda Center will hold another well-known pop artist, Dua Lipa. She will be touring her album “Future Nostalgia” with a concert date in Portland on March 29. Dua Lipa is a Grammy award winning artist with hit songs like “Levitating,” “New Rules” and “One Kiss.”  Lipa still has tickets up for sale starting at a price of $41.

Tyler, The Creator will be stepping into Portland grounds on April 4 at the Moda Center. Tyler seems to be a SHS student favorite among this list according to the informal questionnaire. Some of his most popular songs, “EARFQUAKE,” “IFHY’ and “WHO DAT BOY” have all played to the great success he has had with his career. Tyler’s concert still has tickets available for purchase starting at a low price of $30. As there are more opportunities to safely socialize, more concerts will be happening around our area in the near future. Whether you plan on attending any of these concerts or not, you can always listen to these artists anytime of day through your device.
